HALO®, HALO AI, and HALO Link 4.2 Features and Functionalities

In this blog post, you can learn about some of the new features in the 4.2 release, when to expect your chance to upgrade, and where to find user guides, release notes, and tutorial videos.

What new features are included in the 4.2 release?

HALO® 4.2

The HALO 4.2 software release introduces powerful enhancements that make image annotation faster, more intuitive, and easier to manage. New and improved annotation actions, including a versatile multi-select tool, streamline annotating. Batch annotation workflows are now more efficient, thanks to expanded capabilities for organizing and managing large sets of annotations with ease. Behind the scenes, object data has been migrated out of the HALO database and into optimized parquet file storage, dramatically improving load times and overall system performance.

HALO AI 4.2

The HALO AI 4.2 release brings smarter, faster, and more flexible AI tools to your fingertips. Third party AI app support enables AI models developed by users outside of HALO or from third party vendors to be launched and viewed within the HALO platform, expanding analytical capabilities. New channel invariant models utilize all fluorescent image channels streamlining segmentation workflows with pretrained models for both nuclear and whole cell analysis. Users also gain greater control over model training through adjustable hyperparameters like learning rates and class weights. Rounding out the release is an updated AI annotation tool that’s smaller, faster, and optimized for pathology data, delivering a smoother and more responsive annotation experience.

HALO Link 4.2

The 4.2 release of HALO Link introduces several new features to expand analysis options, improve navigation, and extend administrative oversight. Users can now launch custom developed or third-party AI analysis directly from the HALO Link platform, extending functionality. Brightfield z-stack image viewing is now supported, allowing users to easily explore slides with multiple focal planes. Navigation is more ergonomic thanks to an integration with the 3D Connexion SpaceMouse, which offers smoother control over slide movement. Finally, the new Diagnostics Monitor helps administrators identify performance issues with image loading and resolve them efficiently when working with our Technical Solutions team.
