Message from our CEO

Dear friends of Indica Labs,

I’d like to take a moment to share some updates and to thank each and every person that has supported Indica through the exceptional challenges of 2020.

While the world struggles with a viral pandemic, the importance of digital pathology has never been clearer. Indica’s products are utilized by every pharmaceutical company that’s been in the news recently for their COVID-19 vaccine and therapeutic production. In a matter of weeks after the start of the pandemic, our HALO Link platform was deployed by the US National Institutes of Health to establish a COVID-19 digital pathology autopsy repository for the research community.  Researchers around the world have cited the use of our technology this year in a string of important peer-reviewed articles that have both broadened the understanding of coronavirus and the immune response to viral infection.

Acute Respiratory Distress and Cytokine Storm in Aged, SARS-CoV-2 Infected African Green Monkeys, but not in Rhesus Macaques

Blair, R.V., Vaccari, M., Doyle-Meyers, L.A.. et al. Acute Respiratory Distress and Cytokine Storm in Aged, SARS-CoV-2 Infected African Green Monkeys, but not in Rhesus Macaques. This article is a preprint and has not been certified by peer review.  doi: https://doi.org/10.1101/2020.06.18.157933. SARS-CoV-2 induces a wide range of disease severity ranging from asymptomatic infection, to a life-threating illness, particularly in the elderly and persons with comorbid conditions. Among those persons with serious COVID-19 disease, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is a common and often fatal presentation. Animal models of SARS-CoV-2 infection that manifest severe disease are needed to investigate the pathogenesis of COVID-19 induced ARDS and evaluate therapeutic strategies.
